Preferred Major: Civil Engineering (Structural Emphasis Preferred)

Engineering Beyond the Classroom

Anvil Engineering is seeking a Structural Engineering Intern to join our team for Summer 2027. This is more than a typical internship. You'll work alongside experienced structural engineers on real industrial projects, gaining hands-on experience in structural design, analysis, drafting, field investigations, and construction coordination.

As part of our team, you'll contribute to projects that support manufacturing facilities, material handling systems, industrial buildings, equipment structures, and process facilities across the country. You'll learn how engineering decisions impact safety, constructability, schedule, and cost while developing practical skills that extend beyond the classroom.

If you're interested in structural engineering and want exposure to both engineering design and construction, this internship provides a unique opportunity to gain real-world experience in a design-build environment.

What You'll Do

  • Assist structural engineers with calculations, analysis, and design development

  • Support the preparation of construction drawings, models, and design documents

  • Utilize RISA-3D and Revit to assist with structural analysis and design

  • Review drawings, specifications, and project documents using Bluebeam

  • Participate in field investigations, site visits, and project meetings

  • Help evaluate existing structures and develop practical engineering solutions

  • Perform engineering research and technical analysis

  • Support quality control and project documentation efforts

  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, project managers, and construction professionals

Qualifications

  • Rising Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or Graduate student pursuing a Civil Engineering degree

  • Structural emphasis preferred

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred

  • Interest in structural engineering and industrial construction

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn

Expected Graduation

Expected graduation date of December 2027 through May 2030 preferred.

Additional Information

  • Full-time summer internship (40 hours per week)

  • Position based in the St. Louis area

  • Travel to project sites and temporary relocation may be required

  • Reliable transportation required
